PDRN Eye Patches Explained: What Makes BACIEL's Formula Different

PDRN is everywhere in Korean skincare right now—from serums and creams to masks and eye patches. But seeing PDRN on the label doesn't tell you everything about a product.

What is it formulated with? How is it delivered to the skin? And has the finished formula actually been tested? At BACIEL, we believe PDRN is only the beginning of the story.

PDRN may be the headline ingredient. But it isn't working alone.

What Is PDRN in Skincare?

PDRN, short for polydeoxyribonucleotide, is a DNA-derived ingredient increasingly studied in dermatology and aesthetic skin care. Research has explored its role in skin recovery and regenerative processes, although evidence from medical or injectable applications should not be assumed to apply directly to topical skincare products.

In cosmetic ingredient lists, PDRN may appear as Sodium DNA.

BACIEL Power Active PDRN 1000 Eye Patches uses salmon-derived PDRN and contains more than 1,000 ppm of Sodium DNA in the finished formula.

What Makes BACIEL's PDRN Eye Patch Different?

The formula was designed around a specific concern: under-eye skin that looks dry, tired and less elastic than it used to. Instead of asking one ingredient to do everything, BACIEL combines PDRN with two forms of collagen and a 4GF Complex.

1. Salmon-Derived PDRN

BACIEL uses salmon-derived PDRN in the form of Sodium DNA, with more than 1,000 ppm included in the finished formula.

It's the starting point of a formula designed around hydration, elasticity and recovery-focused care.

2. Dual Collagen

The formula combines approximately 300 Da water-soluble collagen with hydrolyzed collagen.

Rather than treating collagen as a single supporting ingredient, this dual-collagen approach complements the formula's focus on moisture, smoothness and firmer-looking skin.

3. 4GF Complex

BACIEL's 4GF Complex brings together four peptide and polypeptide ingredients:

sh-Oligopeptide-1 · sh-Oligopeptide-2 · sh-Polypeptide-1 · sh-Polypeptide-22

Together with PDRN and dual collagen, they complete the multi-active formula behind Power Active PDRN 1000.

Why a Hydrogel Eye Patch?

A good formula still needs the right format.

BACIEL uses a close-fitting hydrogel patch that keeps the formula in direct contact with the targeted area while you wear it. The hydrogel holds moisture and conforms closely to the contours beneath the eyes, creating a simple, targeted treatment step.

That's why we don't think of PDRN Eye patches as simply “PDRN in a patch.” It's a PDRN-centered formula built specifically for hydrogel eye care.

What Did Testing of the Finished Formula Show?

Ingredients tell us how a product was designed. Finished-formula testing tells us how the complete product performed under the study conditions.

BACIEL Power Active PDRN Eye Patches underwent instrumental efficacy testing involving 10 volunteers.

TEST RESULT
Hydration Increased after a single application, with measurements taken for up to 5 hours
Elasticity +3.5 AU versus the control zone after 4 weeks
Melanin level −2.3 AU versus the control zone after 4 weeks

The finished formula was also evaluated separately for dermal compatibility. In a 12-person semi-occlusive patch test, the Average Irritation Index was 0.00, and the product was classified as “NOT IRRITATING” under the study conditions.

* Clinical note: Instrumental efficacy testing was conducted on forearm skin, not directly on the under-eye area. Results refer to the finished BACIEL formula under the study conditions and should not be interpreted as clinical evidence for PDRN alone. Individual skin responses may vary.

Who Are PDRN Eye Patches Best For?

Not every under-eye concern needs the same formula.

BACIEL Power Active PDRN 1000 Eye Patch is designed for those looking beyond a quick cooling or hydration boost—particularly when dryness, tired-looking skin and loss of elasticity are becoming more noticeable.

If brightening or simple daily hydration is your main concern, another eye patch may make more sense. That's why BACIEL doesn't make one eye patch and claim it's right for everyone. Different concerns deserve different formulas.

PDRN Eye Patches FAQ

01. What does PDRN mean in skincare?

PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide, a DNA-derived ingredient used in skincare formulas focused on skin conditioning and recovery-oriented care. In cosmetic ingredient lists, it may appear as Sodium DNA.

02. How much PDRN is in BACIEL Power Active PDRN 1000 Eye Patch?

The finished formula contains more than 1,000 ppm of Sodium DNA.

03. Are all PDRN eye patches the same?

No. PDRN concentration is only one part of a product. The complete formula, complementary ingredients, product format and finished-product testing can all differ.

BACIEL combines PDRN with dual collagen, 4GF Complex and a hydrogel format rather than relying on PDRN alone.

04. Are PDRN eye patches good for wrinkles?

PDRN Eye patches should not be expected to permanently erase wrinkles. Hydration can make dehydration lines appear smoother, while BACIEL's finished formula also showed increased skin elasticity after four weeks in instrumental forearm testing.

05. Can I sleep with BACIEL PDRN Eye Patches on?

Yes. BACIEL Power Active PDRN 1000 Eye Patch is designed for extended wear and can be incorporated into an overnight skincare routine.

PDRN may be one of the most talked-about ingredients in Korean skincare, but PDRN alone doesn't tell you what a product is. What matters is the complete formula around it.

For BACIEL, that means:

  • Salmon-derived PDRN + Dual Collagen + 4GF Complex + Hydrogel Eye Care

All brought together in a finished formula that has undergone instrumental efficacy and dermal compatibility testing.

PDRN is where the story starts. Not where it ends. Explore BACIEL Power Active PDRN 1000 Eye Patches for hydration, elasticity and recovery-focused under-eye care.
